Director Mahi V Raghav and 70MM Entertainments joined the hands together for this film.

The Reason Behind Chosing Mammootty As YSR in Yatra Movie

Yatra will focus on the 1475 km long paadayatra that YSR undertook in 2003. YSR went on to win elections in 2004 and 2009, and the paadayatra is largely considered to be a pivotal episode in his life that turned the tide of his political career.

There were reports that Nagarjuna was also in run for the role of YSR. Then why Mahi chose the Mega Star from Kerala for this role, that’s what every one asked before arriving the first look. The director now explains with a scene from Mani Ratnam’s classic movie Thalapathy. He say’s Mammootty has managed to overcome Rajinikanth and Arvind Swamy with his charismatic screen presence and dialog delivery in that scene.

It’s one of the best scene from the movie were Arvind Swamy, district collector having a meeting with the local don Devaraj and his friend Surya played by Mammootty and Rajinikanth respectively. Mahi, the director of Yatra say’s that the YSR has the same charisma in real life and that why he chose Mammootty to portrait him on screen.
