Mega Star Mammootty’s much hyped film “The Great Father” hit the theaters on yesterday and got a tremendous response. The film released on 202 screens and made a record collection of 4.31 Crores.
The movie which had the first day collection in Kerala was Rajinikanth’s Kabali with 4.20 Crores. Second place was Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan with 4.05 Crores. Pulimurugan is Kerala’s biggest box office grosser till date. Great father now break the record of these movies and now holds the number one position in First Day Collection.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who’s one of the producers of the movie released the first day collection report and expressed his happiness through his Facebook post. He wrote :
“Like Pulimurugan, consider this the results of an experiment to gauge the real magnitude of the domestic market..of a big ticket Malayalam film. We are growing guys..and how! And the credit belongs to each one of you! #TheGreatFather
202 screens, 958 shows (including late night shows), ₹4,31,46,345/- Gross.”
The Great Father was directed by debutante Haneef Adeni and produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Arya, Santhosh Sivan, and Shaji Nadesan under the banner of August Cinema. Starring Mammootty in the lead role and Arya, Sneha and Shaam in supporting roles. Movie’s getting good response from the audience and is talking as Mammootty’s great comeback to the box office.
